Skill level and stitches
Intermediate to advanced. The project requires following one size across several tables, working in turned rows, recognizing back loops and joining short rows. US codes SL, HDC, YO-SL and BLO are retained and explained: slip stitch, half double crochet, yarn-over slip stitch and back-loop-only work.
Materials and gauge
You will need medium category 4/Worsted yarn, approximately 372-1356 m depending on size; 4 mm and 3 mm hooks, or sizes that achieve gauge; stitch markers and a yarn needle. For the opening option, add three 13 mm buttons for sizes 0-6 and 6-12 months, or 20 mm buttons for the other sizes. After blocking, textured-stitch gauge is 16.5 stitches vertically and 18 rows horizontally per 10 x 10 cm. Choose the size by comparing the finished measurements.
The result is a long-sleeved textured sweater with integrated ribs and side slits at the hem. The photographs show the model and its pieces; the diagrams explain the reference points and stitch supports.
